The Big Reveal

I had been waiting since November 1 to hear whether the State Department had accepted me for a summer internship until last Wednesday (January 23) I received a congratulations email. The email, while quite lengthy and verbose, did not disclose my assignment just the instructions for my security clearance. But today I got the packet in the mail... Laura and I were on our way up to my apartment to do some homework when I checked the mail. There it was. I was so nervous to open it as I was sure I did not get my first choice. So I sat down in my apartment, got out my phone (to call my mom), and opened. I skimmed the first paragraph to find that I will be headed to Lima, Peru! Lima was my first choice, so I can hardly contain my excitement. I already looked up flight rates, read all about the city, checked out the cuisine, and found out the weather averages. So here I am now, a bit too worked up to sleep.

There probably won't be too much updating for a while, because I will just be working on my security clearance. I won't find anything else out until my clearance goes through. Wow.
